Veterinary Specialty Center (VSC) is looking for a sixth board-certified or board-eligible criticalist to join our team.
Located in the affluent northern suburbs of Chicago, VSC has been the leading multidisciplinary referral center in the Midwest for over 43 years. We have been honored as one of Chicago Tribune’s Top Workplaces, and in 2018 we became the first B-Corp Certified veterinary hospital in the country.
Our current hospital is a 27,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility that is home to more than 48 veterinarians & specialists, 130 technicians, and 90 support staff members, across 12 departments. Our specialty services include Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Clinical Pathology, Dermatology, Emergency and Critical Care, Grief Counseling, Integrative Medicine and Acupuncture, Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Neurology, Nutrition, Medical Oncology, Pain Management, Radiation Oncology, Radiology and Imaging, Rehabilitative Therapy, and Surgery.
We are equipped with all the standard accouterments you would expect to find at a large referral facility. In addition, we have advanced diagnostic & treatment modalities, such as in-house 3T MRI & 64-slice CT, a fluoroscopy suite, portable fluoroscopy, nuclear scintigraphy, digital & computed radiology, linear accelerator/radiation therapy, endoscopy, laparoscopy, underwater treadmill therapy, cold laser therapy, viscoelastography, six ultrasounds, Nova pHOx Ultra Analyzer, Puritan Bennett 840 ventilator with neonatal mode, Vapotherm high-flow oxygen therapy, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). We are also one of only a few veterinary hospitals in the country to offer hemodialysis, plasmapheresis, and apheresis for companion animals through our Nephrology Department.
Our emergency department is a VECCS Level I facility and is one of only a few practices in the world to achieve LEVEL ONE Trauma Center Certification through ACVECC's Veterinary Committee on Trauma (VetCOT).
In addition, we have the most incredible support staff you could imagine, who work together side by side to provide patient care that is second to none. Our talented technician team includes ten veterinary technician specialists (VTS), seven of which are specialized in ECC.
Our criticalists oversee our Intensive Care Unit, manage our most challenging emergency and critical care cases, mentor our interns, lecture to our referral community, participate in supervisory duties specific to the operation of our ER/CC Department, and support our amazing 13 ER doctors.
