Assists the pharmacist in the activities related to medication order entry, processing, and delivery. Must be willing and able to perform all the Assistant 1 duties when necessary. Assists the pharmacist in the activities related to compounding sterile IV solutions, syringes, TPN’s, and oral syringes.
Job Requirements: High school graduate required. Minimum of 1 year previous Pharmacy experience or national certification is required or are a pharmacy student currently enrolled in an accredited pharmacy school. National certification (CPhT) is required to be completed within 1 year from the date of hire. National certification must be maintained throughout employment. Typing and computer skills necessary. Must be able to operate automated machinery (prefer experience with Pharmacy robots, automated dispensing cabinets, packagers, IV compounders). Works weekends, evenings, nights and holidays on a rotating basis. Must be able to pass a departmentally administered clinically based math exam with a minimum grade of 70%. Must maintain competency in pharmaceutical calculations utilized in the preparation of medications and maintain competency for USP797 standards.
