Experienced Reporter sought by the Watertown Daily Times and its sister papers in Northern New York.
The ideal person for this job will have experience in writing on important issues at a daily paper, with equal balance between exceptional reporting and compelling writing. The beat is in the Lewis County bureau, with a broad range of subject matter as the company's key person in Lewis County. Topics range from county and municipal government, to health care, to education and beyond. Thus, we are seeking someone with varied interests and the ability to immerse him or herself in often highly technical issues. If you can't do math, don't apply. This position, in addition to providing articles for the daily paper, also is the primary news reporter for the weekly Lowville Journal & Republican, although there are few stories that are not shared. Bounded by Lake Ontario, the St. Lawrence River/Thousand Islands and the Adirondack Park, our coverage area is an outdoor paradise with four-season sports. We expect the successful candidate to relocate to the coverage area of the position.
The Times is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
Salary is more than competitive and commensurate with experience. Benefits include paid vacation and sick days, a 401-k retirement plan and life, health and dental insurance.
Applicants should reply to Vice President of Human Resources Jeanette Hardy at firstname.lastname@example.org with a letter of application, a current resume and clips that will compel us to talk to you. Your letter of application is as important as your resume. No phone calls, please.
